There are two slips related to roadworthiness in New South Wales — pink slips and blue slips. Pink skips are now known as ‘eSafety checks’ and are required each time the registration on a car that’s more than five years old is renewed. A pink slip inspection makes sure your car is safe to be driven on the road and looks at the tyres, brakes, lights and other important components.
Blue slips are a full inspection of your car and are a much more comprehensive inspection than pink slips. They are required when when selling a car without a rego, registering a vehicle that has been unregistered for more than three months and when re-registering a car after moving interstate. Both pink and blue slips last 28 days from the date of issue.
